So you’re interested in using the online gaming niche? There’s a lot to know to start with about online gaming before you even attempt to target your chosen niche. Most of the people involved in online gaming are pretty clued up about their chosen game and are extremely cynical. You have players new to quake 4 and players who have been playing Quake since 1996. That’s 10 years of solid experience at playing. You may be shocked if you were to play Quake 4 today and find one player who will beat every player in a chosen server by an extremely high margin. You may not even be able to “frag” or kill this player yourself. A lot of these players will have a “tag in front or after their names showing that they are part of a “clan” or “gang”. These clans are made up of many types of people young and old and a lot of these clans are filled with “pro” gamers who can actually afford to send their players around the world to compete in tournaments through the sponsor ship money they receive from big companies. A lot of clans just play for fun or in the numerous online leagues and tournaments. Each clan constitutes a mini community which interacts with other clans and creates a huge ever-changing community within the chosen game. Another style of game that is played by millions of people everyday is the mmorpg. This is a multiplayer online game that is normally fantasy based where you team up with players fro all over the world and go on missions and join guilds the equivalent to Quake Clans. A lot of these games you have to actually “pay to play” online. So you pay a monthly subscription fee just to play online every month. Another HUGE “FPS” game is Counter Strike which has one of the biggest online FPS communities at the moment, also worth checking out is “Battle Field 2″ The best way to get involved in gaming is to simply pick a game and jump in the deep end. Get online and experience it for yourself pick a type of game you think you would enjoy playing, because after all, most people play games for fun. If you’re aiming to be successful marketing your product within the gaming community you have to have first hand experience. Why work in a niche market like weddings for example when you have never been married or don’t work in the marriage industry to start with? If you have been married once or even twice then you only have those few experiences to draw experience from, where as in the gaming world, everyday could would become a fresh experience in an ever-changing community and online word. Who knows, it may even becomes a permanent hobby for you as well and you can learn to work with something you enjoy!
